The Oyo State House of Assembly member representing Akinyele Constituency 1 and Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) candidate for the constituency, Hon. Abiola Olalekan Monsur, has extended his warm congratulations to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and the First Lady, Her Excellency, Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, following their conferment with the distinguished traditional titles of Aare Soludero and Yeye Soludero, respectively.

The prestigious titles were bestowed on the Governor and his wife by the Ibarapa Traditional Council at the palace of the Eleruwa of Eruwa, His Royal Majesty, Oba Samuel Adedayo Adeagbola, in recognition of their contributions and relationship with the people and traditional institutions of the state.

In his congratulatory message, Hon. Monsur described the conferment as a significant honour and a worthy recognition of the Governor and First Lady’s contributions to peace, development and the advancement of Oyo State.

The lawmaker noted that in Yoruba society, traditional titles carry deep cultural and social significance, stressing that such recognition is not merely ceremonial but reflects the character, service, goodwill and positive impact of the recipients on their communities and society at large.

Hon. Monsur observed that the emergence of Governor Makinde as Aare Soludero and Mrs. Makinde as Yeye Soludero further demonstrates the goodwill and confidence the administration has continued to enjoy among traditional institutions and communities across Oyo State.

He commended the Eleruwa of Eruwa and members of the Ibarapa Traditional Council for honouring the Governor and First Lady, describing the gesture as a meaningful demonstration of the traditional institution’s continued role in appreciating individuals whose contributions have positively affected the society.

The APM candidate stressed that traditional rulers remain important stakeholders in the development of Oyo State, given their closeness to the people, deep understanding of local issues and invaluable knowledge of the cultural heritage and aspirations of their communities.

According to him, traditional institutions serve as an important link between government and the grassroots, making their cooperation essential to effective governance, peaceful coexistence and sustainable development.

Hon. Monsur also commended the cordial relationship between the Makinde administration and traditional rulers across the state, noting that mutual respect and collaboration between government and traditional institutions are vital for the continued peace, stability and progress of Oyo State.

He further stated that the wealth of experience and grassroots knowledge possessed by traditional rulers can provide government with valuable insight into the challenges confronting different communities and help in the formulation and implementation of policies that directly improve the lives of the people.

While celebrating Governor Makinde on the conferment of the Aare Soludero title, Hon. Monsur also acknowledged the administration’s efforts across various sectors, particularly in infrastructure, education, healthcare, economic development, security and other areas of governance.

He said continued attention to these critical sectors remains necessary for improving the welfare and standard of living of residents, adding that honours from respected traditional institutions should further inspire leaders to remain committed to service, accountability, peace-building and the overall development of the people.

Hon. Abiola Olalekan Monsur therefore wished Governor Seyi Makinde and Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde a fulfilling tenure in their respective traditional roles, praying that the new honours would further strengthen their commitment to the peace, unity and prosperity of Oyo State.
