The Chairperson of Akinyele Local Government, Mrs. Funmilola Akinleye, has celebrated children across Akinyele Local Government and Nigeria at large on the occasion of this year’s Children’s Day, describing children as the greatest treasure and future leaders of the nation.

In her Children’s Day message, she emphasized the need for every sector of society to prioritize the growth, protection, and development of children, noting that the future of the country depends largely on how well today’s children are nurtured.

Mrs. Funmilola Akinleye stated that children represent hope, greatness, and the promise of a better tomorrow. She noted that investing in children through quality education, moral upbringing, and proper care remains one of the most important responsibilities of both parents and government. According to her, every child deserves a safe and supportive environment where their talents and dreams can flourish without fear or limitation.

The Akinyele LG Chairperson further called on parents and guardians to embrace their responsibilities by becoming worthy role models to their children. She stressed that children learn more from what they see than what they are told, urging parents to display good character, discipline, honesty, and compassion at all times.

Mrs. Akinleye explained that proper mentoring and guidance from parents would help raise responsible individuals who will positively impact society and contribute meaningfully to national development.

Mrs. Funmilola Akinleye also appealed to community leaders, teachers, religious bodies, and policymakers to work collectively towards protecting the rights and welfare of children. She advocated for increased awareness on child education, healthcare, security, and mental well-being, adding that children need encouragement and opportunities to reach their full potential. She reaffirmed her commitment to supporting initiatives and programs aimed at empowering children and creating brighter opportunities for them.

While congratulating children on their special day, Mrs. Funmilola Akinleye encouraged them to remain focused on their education, be obedient to their parents and teachers, and continue to uphold good values. She expressed optimism that with proper guidance and support, Nigerian children would grow into responsible leaders capable of taking the nation to greater heights.

“Happy Children’s Day to all our wonderful children. You are the pride of today and the hope of tomorrow,” she added.
