The incumbent Governor of Osun State and candidate of the Accord Party, Ademola Adeleke, has emerged victorious in the 2026 Osun State Governorship Election, defeating his major challenger, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, alongside the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other participating parties.

Adeleke’s victory was largely propelled by Accord’s impressive showing across several key local government areas of the state. The party recorded commanding margins in areas including Ede North, Ede South, Ife North, Ife Central, Ife East, Oshogbo, Iwo, Oriade, Odo Otin, Ila, Egbedore and Ayedaade, strengthening the governor’s position in the closely fought contest.

In Ede North, Accord posted a remarkable 35,427 votes against the APC’s 10,283, while Ede South also delivered a substantial margin, with Adeleke’s party securing 26,188 votes compared with 6,219 votes for the APC. Accord equally maintained its advantage in Ife East, where it recorded 27,201 votes against APC’s 18,600, and in Oshogbo, where it polled 36,480 votes to the APC’s 30,474.
Despite Accord’s strong performance, the APC recorded notable victories in several local government areas. In Irewole, the APC secured 29,972 votes against Accord’s 10,934, while Boripe produced 19,963 votes for the APC compared with 12,448 for Accord. The APC also prevailed in Ilesha East with 16,208 votes against Accord’s 12,280, while the party equally led in Obokun and Atakunmosa East.

The overall results reflected a fiercely contested election, with the two leading parties dominating the major battlegrounds while the ADC and other political parties trailed behind. However, Accord’s stronger performance across a number of strategically important local government areas ultimately gave Adeleke the edge and secured his return to the Osun State Government House for another term.
