The Oyo lawmaker representing Akinyele State Constituency I in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Abiola Olalekan Monsur has strongly denied any involvement in an alleged plan to impeach the Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, reiterating his loyalty and commitment to the current administration. He made this clarification in response to claims surrounding a purported plot against the governor.

Hon. Olalekan’s reaction followed disclosures reportedly made by the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin, who allegedly revealed details of a high-level conspiracy aimed at removing the governor from office. The claims have stirred political conversations within the state.

According to the account attributed to the Speaker, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja, was said to have invited him to a meeting where he was encouraged to work with other lawmakers to carry out the impeachment process, with promises of substantial financial rewards. The allegation also mentioned the involvement of Florence Ajimobi, Zaccheus alongside reports of further engagements, including a meeting with the presidency on April 9, 2026.

It was further alleged that incentives such as billions of naira and political assurances, including a potential House of Representatives ticket under the All Progressives Congress, were offered to key figures, while other lawmakers were promised automatic tickets to return to the State Assembly. These claims painted a picture of a coordinated effort to influence the legislative process.

Responding firmly, Hon. Olalekan dismissed all allegations linking him to the scheme, stressing that he neither attended any such meeting nor received any inducement. He reaffirmed that his loyalty remains with Governor Makinde, whom he described as a leader who has delivered peace, stability, and significant development across Oyo State. He concluded by pledging continued support for policies that promote the welfare and progress of the people.
